I have a series of tree photos that don’t necessarily look like a tree. I like creating abstracts and closeup images from unexpected subject. Sometimes, the unexpected is right in front of me. When I shot the Maples at Block Creek, I was only there for the wildlife–or so I thought.

Remaining in the here and now can result in unexpected rewards. While out making photos of wildlife or trees, I cannot possibly fully experience each feathery flit, furry scurry, or leaf that falls to the ground, yet sometimes I get so focused on creating the image I see in my mind, that I don’t pay attention to the wonder all around me. Life happens in the here and now. While going about our daily routine and our thoughts are sometimes elsewhere, beautiful opportunities and moments are passing right by, lost forever to the flow of time.There is so much in this world, in this moment, to be enjoyed and appreciated that I believe we all should strive to pay attention to the present moment, because it is the only space in which we can truly experience being alive.
