The hummingbird migration is motivating me this week. All of a sudden, my friends are reporting hummingbird sightings at their feeders and I’m motivated to try to get that perfect shot. You know the one. The bird is perfectly frozen with outstretched wings and the iridescent light glowing off the brightly colored feathers. I’ve longed to catch these little vixens in flight for a few years. Some photographers I know, go so far as to hang backgrounds and set up off-camera flashes. Maybe this is the year for setting up my own hummingbird photo booth to try to get that perfect, in-flight, stop-action shot.

The best image I have so far is a female Black-chinned hummer perched on my bird feeder hook. Birds in My Backyard: Black-chinned hummingbird
