This great egret has just taken flight, leaving the salt marsh in search of, well, who knows really. Could it be a better fishing spot, a safe shelter for the night, a mate, or a nest of newly hatched chicks? Fly away, then. I hope you find what you seek.
Developed in the studio, the image blurs the motion of the wings into a sense of energy and freedom, the bird's bright white feathers set against rich greens and blues, a fleeting moment of grace lifted from the marsh.
