Carol is there with you
Every gathering is live and personally facilitated. These are conversations and shared experiences—not prerecorded lessons or photography lectures.
Four weeks. 10 people maximum. Four evenings together.
When life has been about getting through the day, it can take practice to start noticing it again. Finding the Light Again is a gentle photography practice designed to help you slow down, pay attention, and notice more of what is already around you—not to make better photographs or learn your camera.
Begin Where You Are · February 18–March 11, 2027 · Thursdays, 6:30–8:00 p.m. Central · $97
Bring any camera you enjoy using—even the phone already in your pocket.

You can absolutely work through Finding the Light Again on your own. But sometimes buying a book and making time for what is inside it are two very different things.
The cohort gives you a few evenings already set aside for the practice and a room of other people who are also learning to pause, look around, and notice again.
You decide what to photograph, what to share, and what remains private.
The Finding the Light Again Guided Cohort is a small, live experience built around the book. Ten participants. Four weekly Zoom gatherings per stage, led by Carol throughout—not recorded, not automated, not handed off. You work through the daily prompts on your own time, bring what you noticed to each gathering, and share as much or as little as feels right. Between sessions, Carol sends a short note so the practice doesn’t disappear into the week. A PDF copy of Finding the Light Again is included with your enrollment, or you may use your own paperback. Begin Where You Are (Days 1–15) meets Thursday evenings, February 18 through March 11, 2027. Carry the Light Forward (Days 16–30) meets Monday evenings, March 29 through April 19, 2027. Each stage is $97. Both together are $177.
The purpose is not to give you more homework. It is to give you a reason to stop for a few minutes and look.
Every gathering is live and personally facilitated. These are conversations and shared experiences—not prerecorded lessons or photography lectures.
The same group of no more than ten meets privately on Zoom each week, with space for everyone who wishes to participate. There is no separate online group to keep up with.
We may talk about why an image mattered or what made you stop. We will not evaluate whether it is a "good" photograph.
The 30 days in Finding the Light Again are guided across two four-week cohorts. Begin with the first stage and add the second at checkout, or join Carry the Light Forward on its own.
The first half of the practice is about beginning exactly where you are—not fixing anything or forcing yourself to feel differently. Simply beginning to pay attention.
The second stage continues the remaining prompts and begins looking at what you want to carry forward after the 30-day practice ends.
Some days you may make several photographs. Some days you may make one. Some days simply noticing is enough.
Photography did not provide answers. What it provided was a reason to look—to notice light, get outside, and pay attention to something beyond appointments, worry, and what needed to happen next.
Guidance from lived experience
Carol Fox Henrichs is a fine art nature photographer, longtime educator, and author of Finding the Light Again: A Reflective Photography Practice for Healing, Hope, and Creative Renewal.
The practice grew from her own experience with cancer, recovery, and returning to photography afterward. Carol brings decades of teaching experience to the cohort, but she is not there to teach you photography. She is there to guide the practice, make room for conversation, and walk beside you as you begin noticing what is around you again.
That is why the cohort is built around four live evenings rather than an open-ended course. There is nothing to binge or catch up on—just a few moments set aside to return to the practice.
This practice does not promise that. It offers a small, repeatable act—pausing, looking, noticing—that may help you feel more present for a few moments each day. You can carry that practice beyond the cohort, at your own pace.
The gatherings are not recorded, so if you miss one, it is simply missed. Life happens. What you will not miss are the prompts, the weekly note, or the next gathering—those continue regardless. If you know in advance that you will be unavailable for a significant portion of the cohort, that timing may not be right for you.
Every enrollment includes the same small-group attention and supportive approach.
A caring boundary: Finding the Light Again is a reflective creative practice. It is not therapy, grief counseling, or a substitute for professional mental-health care. Carol facilitates as a photographer, educator, and author—not as a clinician. If you are experiencing an active mental-health crisis, please seek support from a qualified professional before joining.
Because each cohort is limited to 10 participants, your registration reserves a place that may no longer be available to someone else.
Unexpected circumstances do happen. If you experience a serious illness or emergency, please contact Carol so your situation can be considered individually.
Yes. The practice is about noticing, not gear. Anything you already have and will actually reach for—a phone, a point-and-shoot, a DSLR—is the right camera for this.
No. The gatherings are live only and will not be recorded. This keeps the space smaller and more personal, and means that what is shared there stays there.
Sharing is always optional. You may choose to share an image that felt meaningful to you, or simply listen and participate in the conversation. There is no pressure either way.
It depends. If you are in an active crisis, please seek support from a mental health professional first—this practice is not a substitute for that care. If you are in a difficult season and looking for a quiet structure to help you notice your life again, this practice may be a useful companion alongside other support.
You can add Carry the Light Forward for $80 at checkout, or within seven days after your original enrollment. After that window, Cohort 2 is available at the standard $97 price if space remains.
The short version: cancellations at least 14 days before the first gathering receive a full refund. Within 14 days of the start, your payment may be applied to a future Finding the Light Again cohort but is not refundable. Full details are in the policy section above.
You do not need the right words, the right camera, or a plan for what comes next. Sometimes a willingness to notice is enough to begin.
