Window Rock

Sale price $45.00

Seen from atop the cliffs behind the opening, a sandstone arch curves across the ridge, warm late light glowing on its weathered surface. A small figure in a red shirt sits on top of the arch, a single human note of scale and color, and beyond the rock the land falls away toward the town of Window Rock below. Juniper and piñon cling to the pale slickrock in the foreground beneath a bright blue sky with drifting clouds.

Window Rock, known in the Navajo language as Tségháhoodzání, is the seat of government of the Navajo Nation, and the natural formation that gives the town its name holds deep cultural significance. This uncommon vantage point, looking down from above rather than up through the opening, offers a quieter and more personal view of a landmark shaped over countless years by wind and time.
