Camera Confidence Field Guide

There is a lot your camera can do. That does not mean you need to understand every button, menu, and custom setting before you can make better photographs.
Most beginners do not need more complexity. They need a clearer starting point.
This guide focuses on the camera settings that make the biggest difference in the field: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, and exposure compensation. These are the controls that shape brightness, motion, background softness, sharpness, and overall image intent.
You can use this guide at home, in your backyard, during a walk, on a trip, or before a class or workshop. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to begin recognizing what your camera is doing and what you might change when the result does not match what you saw or felt.
