Six pelicans glide toward the viewer in a loose, rhythmic line, wings outstretched in the long, easy arcs of coastal flight. Across the wide panoramic sky behind them, soft washes of yellow, aqua, and faint rose blend into a textured, painterly field.
Layered in the studio with texture and color, the work transforms a familiar morning sight on the Gulf Coast into something closer to a painting. The steady procession of birds carries a quiet sense of arrival and belonging, the day beginning in unison.
