A prickly pear spills over the edge of a red earth outcrop, its paddles stacked and tumbling downward, studded with small yellow blooms. Shadows fall across the weathered rock face, and patches of green brush soften the canyon slope behind it.
Developed in the studio with a soft, painterly finish, the work celebrates the tenacity of desert life. Rooted in thin soil on a sunbaked ledge, the cactus not only survives but flowers, a vivid picture of resilience in a hard and beautiful land.
